BINARY BLACK HOLE GRAND CHALLENGE

Project Overview:
The Grand Challenge Alliance is an NSF funded collaboration among physicists and computer scientists at eight institutions. Our goal is to develop numerical codes to solve the problem of the 3D spiraling coalescence of two black holes. This is a fundamental problem in relativity and astrophysics, as colliding black holes are among the most promising sources for generating gravitational waves that may be detected by the turn of the century.
